Caricature "How are you feeling?"

lemoLiving Museum Online

The theme of the caricature by Dieter Hanitzsch is the social and economic differences between the old and the new federal states that were felt for a long time after reunification. A federal eagle divided into two is shown, representing the affluent west on one side and the poor east on the other. After the completion of the state unity in 1990, the growing together of Germany is one of the most urgent tasks. However, social and economic differences, but also mutual reservations, make it difficult to achieve internal unity.

Hanitzsch was initially a business journalist for Bavarian TV, and later a political cartoonist. His caricatures are published in the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" and the "Generalanzeiger", among others.
