How can people understand nothing
You can't understand people, but you can learn to deal with them really well
Learning to understand WABs better
Perhaps you've experienced this before: You work with someone you actually are like and appreciate towards a common goal that you both find meaningful and you begin to each other completely hooked. All at once is almost an argument in the air and you both wonder what is going on here all of a sudden? What is happening to us here? That can't really be true.
This description contains strong indications that this is a MCA conflict acts.
What is that now again? I will explain that to you in this blog article.
WABs - written out: Perception and activity preferences
WABs are perceptual and activity preferences. It refers to Aspects of our personality. You could also call it Perception filter or preset describe.
With the WABs it works just about how. How we perceive the world and move in it. That does Personality and also the uniqueness of the individual among other things.
The WABs don't ask what and why. This is what makes them so easy and valuable to use. What is behind this behavior is often a difficult question to answer. This often does not lead to a solution, especially when things have to be done quickly. However, knowing about the MCS is amazingly simple and effective.
The respective WABs also include certain language patternsby which you can recognize them and which you can also learn.
It may well be that disturbances arise because in a certain Conversation situation, the other's WAB not to our WAB fits.
How did I get to the WABs and where do they come from?
I'm a fan of it, myself constantly training, as there is so much to discover. Especially when dealing with people, it is important not to treat them all equally. So it is necessary to recognize what makes the individual tick and what can be done to make the conversation easier.
Among other things, I use this for this DISG model, about which I have already reported (see list of links below). Now I would like to give you an insight into something that I will be doing this weekend in the Further training on WABs with Nick Martin Willer have learned and what is very exciting.
Perceptual and activity preferences - what does that mean?
Nick Martin Willer from ACT (Advanced coaching and training) has this Model of the metaprograms from the NLP (neurolinguistic programming) taken and this optimized and further developedso it is very practice-oriented, generally understandable and clearly defined is.
WABs need a specific context
It is very important at the beginning that this is no drawers acts. These are favors that are entirely on one specific context aim. The differentiation is far more complex and situational than is the case with other models of personality.
The WABs do not give your counterpart a label that is meaningful forever and ever. Rather, in your respective context, you pay attention to which preference the other shows.
The nice thing about that WAB model Is that it is generally understandable is. That means, you can exchange with your counterpart which WAB you are currently perceiving in him and you can then check it out together. That also starts quickly To be fun.
In any case, it helps you to adjust to the other person and their needs in the conversation. What motivates your interlocutor and where do they arise Tensions because your MCAs are too different are?
Overview of WABs
There are a total of 12 different WABs.
1. Main preference
2. Learning / persuasion channel
3. Learning / persuasion mode
4. Response mode
5. Decision-making / judgment competence
6. Information size
8. Direction of motivation
9. Results satisfaction
10. Sort mode
11. Preferred rate of change
12. Preferred work phase
In the next articles, I will always come back to the ones that are most interesting for communication.
MCAS main preference man vs thing
The first distinction in people's preferences is: Person or thing.
The preference human has the Sub-items relationship and feeling.
In the expression Thing there is still the distinction whether the one tends to activities or on the Results is focused.
So it can be in conversation too Tension or conflict come because of the one more on relationship is off and therefore more personal things tells or inquires. On the other hand, the relationship-oriented person easily feels tripped up if you don't even ask how he is, or if he doesn't remember his name or pronounces it incorrectly.
As mentioned above, it does not mean that people always and everywhere have this expression. It may be that your counterpart ticks differently in job interviews than in employee interviews or shows a different expression for certain content.
In my own seminars, for example, I am initially focused on people and relationships. As a participant in the training of others, my focus is more on the subject and the results.
There are also differences in the way you react. This does not mean whether someone says “yes”, “no” or “maybe”.
It's more about them Speed at which someone is ready to take action in relation to a specific activity. There is a difference in the WAB reaction mode
1. proactive reaction mode
At the Initiative reaction mode, the reaction comes directlySo these are people who react quickly and don't wait or reflect for very long. Not many questions are asked here, action is wanted quickly.
2.reflected response mode
The reflected reaction mode means that the person does not react the same way. He still needs Additional Informationso that he can decide. Only when he receives this does he become active in the context. Or decides not to become active in the desired sense.
3.wait-and-see response mode
The man with the wait-and-see response mode takes a little more time. It doesn't help him make his decision if he gets more information than the reflector. The topic has to sag and after a while a decision is made and a reaction is made.
4. convinces inactive reaction mode
For the convinced inactive people the activity is simply not attractive enough, it's not worth it.
If I reflect myself, I realize that I am often on the initiative am in decisions.
At Purchase decisionswho are over my current budget is me reflected. Decided inactive I was the other day when you got me Securities wanted to sell;).
The WAB procedure has the characteristics procedural and optional, more clearly also referred to as plan follower and trial runner.
As with all other WABs, it also applies here that the characteristics can be different in different contexts.
Procedural means that you are always looking for you specific sequence Doing things. One can do that structure be in a recruiting interview or how to plan your vacation.
If you feel a fixed sequence rather than a constricting corset and prefer it spontaneous and flexible going ahead, it is about that optional WAB.
A personal example:
In the I am procedural in preparing my seminars, I plan in detail and have a specific procedure. In the Implementation of the seminars I don't always stick to the plan, I act spontaneousdepending on how the group takes it to achieve the appropriate results.
