There are earthquake-like shifts in the gaming notebook landscape: With the almost simultaneous introduction of the mobile CPUs AMD Ryzen 4000 and Intel Comet Lake-H, we have real competition for the first time - and the choice between as many CPU cores as possible or the highest possible clock rates . In addition, Nvidia has made its SUPER models mobile, so that powerful CPU-GPU combinations are possible in the current gaming notebooks. We introduce the best gaming notebooks currently available and explain what to look for when buying a device.

Well, not everyone can afford the top model of the Acer Predator Triton 500 for around 2400 euros, which our American colleagues have tested. The high-end gaming notebook comes with the six-core Intel Core i7-10750H and Geforce RTX 2080 Super, housed in a 2 kilogram aluminum housing with a lightning-fast 300 Hz G-Sync screen. Another gaming notebook with a 300 Hz screen, the MSI GS66 Stealth, was also tested. Gaming with such a screen becomes a real experience thanks to this ultra-high refresh rate. Are two screens better than one? The Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo may be the first dual-display notebook that does everything right.

Best 15-inch gaming notebook

Acer Predator Triton 500

The Acer Predator Triton 500 is equipped with a 15.6-inch panel (1920x1080, 144 Hz), an 8th generation Core i7-8750H with 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD as well as a Geforce RTX 2060. That is enough power for notebooks based on the somewhat cheaper Geforce GTX 1660 Ti, but there is also the option of running DirectX ray tracing games.
Expanding the storage space of the Triton 500 is not a big deal.

Cheapest gaming notebook

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-51M5

The Acer Nitro 5 surpasses everything we would expect from extremely low budget notebooks. Its display is a bit dark and the GTX 1650 graphics are only intended for Full HD gaming with slightly reduced quality settings. Nevertheless, its overall performance is solid and its battery life is an almost unheard-of five hours (for gaming notebooks). If you're looking for something that is good value for money, or if you plan to buy cheap and upgrade more often (a reasonable plan in the ever-evolving world of gaming), this is a respectable entry-level device.

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15t

The HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop is just as rugged and sophisticated as its high-end counterparts, and even has a surprisingly respectable battery life. A few things were sacrificed for the low price. The screen is rather gloomy and there are no mouse buttons.
